Computer Care Tips

eMachines EZ1601-01 All-in-One DesktopFor those of you who have computer at home and want to learn how to take care of these computers, I give some tips for caring your computer so that your computer maintain in good condition. Below are the following tips :

1. Clean the motherboard and other peripherals (hardware) from dust on a regular basis. To clean it use a small smooth brush and a medium size brush. Open the casing first and then clean the motherboard and other peripherals (RAM, Video Card, Modem, Sound Card, CDR / CDRW / DVRW, TV tuner) with a soft brush. When the computer is not used close it (monitor, CPU, keyboard / mouse) with a cover so dust does not easily enter into a computer. At least once every two months this should be done.

2. Uninstall or remove programs that are not useful. Disk space consumed too much will slow down the read / write drive so that the workload will be heavier so that the disk will be easily damaged. Usually a warning will appear when our disk space is full. Windows operating systems already support with something like this

3. Clean the Recycle Bin on a regular basis. Actually the files / folders that we deleted from the hard drive does not disappear because it will be accommodated first in the Recycle Bin, but there are several types of settings that we can use, among others, provide a warning when deleting, remove and then store it temporarily or permanently removed. Full Recycle Bin will consumed a lot of hard drive and will also take up space that could lead reading on the hard drive so slow. How to run Windows Explorer>> click the Recycle Bin>> click File>> click Empty Recyle Bin. Or you can run the Disk Cleanup function Click Start>> Programs>> Accessories>> System Tools> Disk Cleanup>> then select the drive which will be cleaned>> Tick the Recycle Bin option or if you need more space also check the other (such as temporary files , temporary internet files), after that click OK.

4. Install anti-virus program and update regularly. To be able to recognize new virus/trojan, you should update your antivirus program regularly. If the virus is already spreading on the computer, it can make you re-install the computer. This is will costs you, and also cause your hard drive will be more easily damaged than if it is not often re-installed.

5. Close programs that you do not use, because when its run requires memory (RAM) so more program which run also consumed more memory. This is can cause the computer to run slow and also workload will be more heavier which can shorten the life of the component / computer

6. Use UPS or Stavolt in anticipation if the electricity suddenly goes off which can result in damage to the hard drive. If you have no UPS, use Stavolt to anticipate the ups and downs of electric voltage.

7. Activate the screensaver, the screensaver has another function which is important. CRT monitor use phosphor to display images. If the monitor displays the same image for a while then there is the phosphorus that burns continuously. This can lead to problematic monitor which the picture becomes dim / less clear. But if your monitor is LCD, the LED has already equipped with energy saving, the screensaver is not too needed any more. How to enabled screensaver can be done in many ways, one click Start>> Control Panel>> Display>> click the screensaver tab, then choose what you like.

8. Defrag your hard drive regularly. Defrag function is to organize and sort your files by type of hard drive files / data in such a way that will facilitate the read / write process and make the workload will be lighter which could ultimately extend the life of the hard disk. How to defrag ? click the Start menu> Programs> Accessories> System Tools> Disk Defragmenter. When perform this function, there is no other programs running including the screensaver because it would disrupt the function of this defrag. For this method advisable not too often, why ....? Defrag is the process of setting the file on the hard disk. To set it to be in a position adjacent to the tracks that made friction to move. Defrag that is too often will cause the hard disk easily damaged because etching too often.

9. Adequate ventilation, place monitor and CPU in such a way that the ventilation air to and from the monitor / CPU quite smoothly. Lack of good ventilation will cause excessive heat so that the components / electronic circuit in it will be a heated so it can shorten component life. Therefore, try to distance between the monitor / CPU with wall / wall of at least 30 cm. If need use a fan in the room. It would be better if using air conditioning.

10. Do not put Speacker Active too close to monitor, the existing magnetic field on the monitor speacker will affect the color of the monitor to be uneven or mottled.

11. Connect the ground wires. If the casing give electricty shock, take a cable with a length as needed, on the tip of the cable associated with the CPU (the casing) while the other end planted in the soil. This will be to neutralize the electric current so it can make more durable electronic components.

Keep Your PC From Dust

Dell 3.0 Ghz. Super Fast GX Computer, Big 250GB Hard Drive, 2GB RAM, DVD Burner (DVD-RW), and New Licensed Windows XP with Genuine Microsoft Authorized CDTry to look inside of your PC, open the casing. Is it still looks clean? Or have a lot of dust? Especially the dust on the main board (motherboard). When the dust had seen thick and cover your PC's motherboard, you should take immediate preventive action. Do not let this situation for long. Because its can make the components inside charred / burnt because the dust factor. Why did this happen?
Dust particles turned out to contain electrical / electricity, where the particle can cause a short circuit between components (shorting). Although short circuit happened in a second, its can cause components on motherboard burnt. So be careful when the dust is thick, especially in the section adjacent to the processor.
For precautions, clean the motherboard with a brush, or if there is a vacuum cleaner, use a vacuum cleaner. Having looked clean, try to keep the cable in order. If The cable look not in order caused the air circulation inside the casing is not going well. Its could caused, the components will be easy to heat. It is feared because of excessive heat, the component will be quickly worn / damaged.
Therefore, You should peek at the inside of your PC every 2 or 3 months, so your PC remains durable. PC durable, money can be saved...

Read This Before Update Your Windows XP to Windows 7

By : erakomputer.com

Windows 7 was released, but still many users of Windows XP in the world who still enjoy to use thi OS. Changing or upgrading operating system does not favored by computer users because besides having to spend more money, we have to mess around with the compatibility of old and new operating systems and a lot of other technical issues. Likewise, when the Windows 7 was released and what about those who are using previous versions of Windows?

For those who are using Windows Vista this time will not face many problems if you have to upgrade to Windows 7 but for the new Windows XP users will see some problems.

Below are 5 things that we should consider when trying to upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7.

1. We can not directly upgrade
Unfortunately Microsoft has not set up Windows 7 ability to be upgraded directly from Windows XP. This is because so many changes that occur between Windows XP and Windows 7, start from the kernel itself, registry, drivers, etc.. Therefore we must install it all over again (fresh install)

2. Or maybe we can upgrade directly?
Although we can not upgrade directly but there is a gap that can be used to upgrade it by upgrade it twice, first upgrade to Windows Vista and then to Windows 7. The good news probably we do not need a licensed Windows Vista because we do not need to do the activation, just install it. In general, this step is not likeable.

3. Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor

If we have an old printer, maybe we would have difficulty to find a driver for the printer which can run on Windows 7 and therefor Microsoft provides a tool called Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor that will scan hardware and software that we have and recognize what problems are likely to be faced. This tool also provides guidance on how to solve the problem.

4. Windows 7 Easy Transfer

A tool provided by Windows 7 so that users can backup their data and preferences. The actual file is migwiz.exe. We can find this file on the DVD of Windows 7 in Support \ Migwiz. First, run this file in the current Windows XP system to move user profiles to external storage media. After installing Windows 7 rerun this file to re-import the user profiles to Windows 7.

5. Security software

Because of changes kernel in Windows 7 which is designed to be more secure, so chances that are antivirus software, antispyware, firewall we have in Windows XP may not run in Windows 7. But do not worry as the firewall in Windows 7 better than the firewall in Windows XP and Microsoft has provided free security software such as Windows Defender and Microsoft Security Essentials.

In conclusion:

Upgrade from XP to Windows 7 takes more time (backup all files and configurations), and also would cost more (if you don’t have a backup media so you must be prepared once / purchased). Furthermore, after install Windows 7 is completed, you should restore all the backups. Expensive and complicated process, and we don’t sure whether the features in win 7 (which they says soo good ) would be useful, or just an old feature repacked and replaced the name only, like its predecessor Vista.
